East Turkistan Government in Exile

The purpose is to promote democracy, human rights, freedom for the Uyghur, Kazakh, Kyrgyz people in occupied East Turkistan and find nonviolent, peaceful ways to restore the State.

The present Constitution has been written according to the common national volition of East Turkistani emigrants who have been living in exile since the occupation of East Turkistan by Communist China in October 1949. The Constitution aims to provide a measure to ensure that the people of East Turkistan and their children live in liberty and show the right path of what the people of East Turkistan must go through after they restore the state.

The Constitution was approved by members of parliament at the convened Congress from November 20 to 22, 2004. The Uyghur version will be based.

The First East Turkistan Republic

The First East Turkistan Republic was established in 1993 by the Uyghur and other Turkic people living in East Turkistan and exist until 1934.

The Second East Turkistan Republic

The second East Turkistan Republic existed from 1944-1949. Alihan Tore was elected as the President. China occupied East Turkistan in 1949.

Summary of the Political Precepts:

Rooting out the tyranny of the Han Chinese;
Establishment of a democratic government;
Creation of an armed force belonging to the people;
Equality for all ethnic groups;
Granted the right to freedom of religion;
Popular elections of government officials at all levels;
Developing political and economic relations with friendly countries, especially the Soviet Union;
Development of education, culture, and health;
Adoption of the Uyghur script as the official written language of the East Turkistan Republic.
