Government Structure:
The East Turkistan Government in Exile (ETGE)
The ETGE was established in Washington, DC, by a group of prominent، Patriotic East Turkistan people (mainly Uyghur) from across the East Turkistani diaspora On September 14, 2004. ETGE is the democratically elected official body representing East Turkistan people and has close contacts, working relations with most East Turkistan organizations worldwide that peacefully promote restoring the state, human rights, religious freedom, and democracy.
The people of East Turkistan have lived independently on the precious land, created magnificent empires and glorious civilizations before China’s invasion in 1949 with the help of the Soviet Union. East Turkistan is four times larger than Japan; it is rich in natural sources such as oil, gas, uranium, gold, Etc. It is a gateway to Europe, Africa, and the hub of the Silk Road.
The brave East Turkistan people have never accepted the Chinese colonization rule and never have given up their hope to take their country back. The ETGE is highly proud of the brave spirit. It has been fighting to restore the state by using all means supported by the civilized world and democratic countries worldwide. It calls on brothers and sisters of East Turkistan Republic to believe the dark days under the evil CCP tyrannical rule will end, and be ready for this honorable and challenging task of restoring and developing the nation.
The Structure of ETGE's New System
Parliament members also have studied the regretful, fragile, and unstable history of the Government in Exile. They found that the main reason for the instability is its system, a combination of the Chinese style “High commission” system and old Turkish style Prime Minister System. Therefore, they decided to eliminate these instability factors and improve the Government efficiency to gain more support and respect from democratic nations. For that reason, the Government in Exile has abolished the prime minister system and adopted the United States government structure model with the approval of the majority of Exiled Congress members and President Erkin Ablimit on March 22, 2020.

ETGE' Presidency
Erkin Ablimit was elected President of the East Turkestan Government in Exile democratically by about 60 delegates who were from 10 countries in the 8th assembly, which was held in Washington, D.C. from November 10 to 12 in 2019
