Government Statement for the Thanksgiving 11242021

Our Thanksgiving gratitude for those people who have raised awareness and stood up against China’s ongoing genocide of Uyghurs

During this holiday season, we would like to express our gratitude for those people and leaders who have raised awareness and stood up against China’s atrocities on the people of occupied East Turkistan, especially Uyghurs who are on the verge of disappearing from the face of the Earth because of China’s on-going genocide. Our special thanks to the U.S. government and the seven parliaments for their declarations, to the scientists such as Dr. Zenz who have proved scientifically, and to our brave camp survivors who have testified China’s atrocities as a genocide.

Since China occupied East Turkistan in 1949 by moving in hundreds of thousands of troops, killing high-ranking officials, including the president of East Turkestan Ahmetcan Kasim, spreading disinformation, and giving empty promises as China is doing today, it has been systematically using genocidal policies such as being forced to undergo political indoctrination, forced starvation, forced medication, forced child separation, forced sterilization, rape, and organ harvesting. There has been mass internment of over 3 million Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, and other Turkic people in concentration camps. Thousands of mosques have been destroyed, damaged, or converted into bars.

The evidence described above has already met the five criteria set forth by the United Nations Convention for the Punishment and Prevention of the Crime of Genocide from 1948. Therefore, we urge world leaders to recognize what China is doing against Uyghurs is genocide and take decisive actions such as deploying peacekeeping troops, abolishing trade agreements, and canceling the 2022 Olympics to stop the genocide and authoritarian viruses from spreading across the globe.

Finally, we wish you a happy Thanksgiving that is filled with love, hope, and blessings!

Sincerely,

President:  Erkin Ablimit

East Turkistan Government in Exile
