 Zurich, 5 March 2021: The Gaden Phodrang Foundation of the Dalai Lama (GPFDL) is pleased to announce a tenth round of “The Dalai Lama Graduate Scholarship” (DLG Scholarship) for the upcoming academic year 2021/22. The program, established in 2011, grants scholarships for full-time Tibetan graduate students studying in Australia, Europe and the Americas in pursuit of Master’s and Doctoral degrees. A scholarship grant of up to USD 10,000 will be awarded to 10 to 18 exceptional candidates as a supplementary bursary.The DLG Scholarship aims to encourage Tibetan students in a graduate field of study with relevance and potential to contribute to the welfare of the Tibetan people and humanity.The Gaden Phodrang Foundation of the Dalai Lama was established by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in 2015 and aims to promote the values to which His Holiness the Dalai Lama is committed, i.e. the promotion of universal human values, religious harmony, Tibetan culture and ecology, and the revival of ancient Indian knowledge. Furthermore, the advancement and welfare of the Tibetan people but also other people in need, irrespective of nationality, religion and origin is an important purpose of GPFDL.Since the start of the program, approximately USD 2 million have been awarded to around 170 Tibetan students. Recipients of past scholarships have enrolled in American, Australian, British, Canadian, French, German, Irish and Polish universities pursuing PhD studies in Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Medical Physics, Environmental Engineering, Developmental Economics, Law, and Comparative & International Education and graduate programs specializing in Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Business Administration, Computer Science, International Affairs, Nano Electronic Systems, and Technology & Economics and many others.Applicationwww.dalailamafoundation.org Applicants must provide official documentation of their acceptance into a graduate degree program at a university or professional school in Australia, Europe or the Americas. They also need to provide proof of their Tibetan heritage. Current recipients who wish to renew their scholarships are required to submit a separate renewal application. However, renewals are limited to two years.The complete application form, along with all required documents must be submitted online before April 23, 2021 (11:59 PM Zurich: GMT+1) via www.dalailamafoundation.org. All information provided in the application must be complete, correct and submitted by time. Incomplete applications, as well as submissions after the deadline, will not qualify for grant consideration.All applications will be acknowledged by email. The applications are evaluated by the independent Selection Committee of the Dalai Lama Graduate Scholarship program. Selected applicants will be contacted for a Skype or phone interview. The final decisions will be communicated individually latest by 7 July 2021.
